This onion soup mix is an easy homemade version of dried Lipton onion soup that tastes even better than the original! It only requires a few simple ingredients and just 5 minutes to make. Use it in place of a packet of Lipton onion soup mix in any of your favorite recipes (or add it to hot water for savory beef and onion soup)!
Homemade Dry Onion Soup Mix
Dried onion soup is a common ingredient in everything from meatloaf to dips. Unfortunately, the packaged stuff is loaded with sodium, gluten, and MSG.
However, all is not lost! You can make your own dried onion soup to keep on hand so you can control exactly what goes into your food.
🥘 Onion Soup Mix Ingredients
You only need a handful of common ingredients that may already be in your spice cabinet. I do recommend using regular beef bouillon granules instead of low-sodium (unless you are on a sodium restriction).
- Dried Onion Flakes - ¼ cup dried onion flakes.Beef Bouillon Granules - 2 tablespoons of beef bouillon granules.Onion Powder - ¼ tablespoon of onion powder.Parsley Flakes - ¼ teaspoon of dried parsley flakesCelery Seed - ⅛ teaspoon of celery seed.Smoked Paprika - ¼ teaspoon of smoked paprika.Ground Black Pepper - ⅛ teaspoon of ground black pepper.

🔪 How To Make Onion Soup Mix
Just combine the ingredients and mix! All you need is your measuring utensils, a mixing bowl, and a whisk or spoon.
This will make about ¼ cup of dried onion soup which can be used in place of 1 packet. You can easily double or triple the recipe if you’d like to keep some on hand for later!
- Measure the ingredients. Add all of the ingredients to a small mixing bowl (¼ cup of dried onion flakes, 2 tablespoons of beef bouillon granules, ¼ teaspoon of onion powder, ¼ teaspoon of parsley flakes, ¼ teaspoon of smoked paprika, ⅛ teaspoon of ground black pepper, and ⅛ teaspoon of celery seed).Combine.
