They’ll surely go fast when you’ve got a hungry crowd. 🥘 Ingredients This recipe is super simple and relies on these fabulous flavors to impress! So all you’ll need is 4 ingredients - as if these turnovers could get any better! A baking sheet is helpful, too. 🙂 Bacon – Everything goes better with bacon. I love hickory or applewood smoked bacon and prefer a thick-cut variety in my turnovers!Puff Pastry – Light, flaky, crisp, tasty, and oh-so buttery!Cheese – Melty and warm, cheese is always a hit! I’m using a combo of my favorite Pacific Northwest brand, Tillamook cheddar, and a wonderful sharp white cheddar.Egg – For that shiny egg wash finish to make these turnovers look their best! Try my sweet pastries for holiday entertaining too! 🔪 Step-By-Step Instructions Making these cheese and bacon turnovers is a no-brainer. They are actually fun to put together and even better to eat. And the best part? They only take 30 minutes from start to finish.

Prepare Your Ingredients Preheat the oven to 375ºF (190ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper from end to end. Grate the cheese.Cook 8 strips of bacon in a large frying pan or a non-stick skillet over medium heat until they are nicely crisp, not overdone. This should take about 5 - 6 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, flip your bacon strips over so each side cooks evenly. Place the cooked bacon on a plate covered with a paper towel to absorb the excess grease.Lightly flour a clean kitchen top surface and roll out the puff pastry dough – a 17.25-ounce package, which should be 2 sheets. Open the sheets gently and use a dab of water on your finger to seal any cracks.Cut the pastry sheets into 4 - 6 squares with a sharp knife. I cut 4 sections per sheet when I make these.

Assemble & Bake Place a slice of the cooked bacon over the center of each pastry puff square diagonally and top with a sprinkle of the 1 ½ cups (6 ounces) of the grated cheddar cheese. Be sure to leave enough so you have an even portion of cheese inside each turnover.Fold in the 2 opposite corners of the dough, laying down the first corner then folding the opposite corner over the first. Use a dab of water on your finger to seal the corners. Also, give the ends a bit of a pinch to help hold the ends together during baking. Do this for all 8 turnovers.Beat one egg and coat the entire exposed surface of the puff pastry with egg wash using a pastry brush. Transfer the cheese and bacon turnovers to the parchment-lined baking sheet. Leave space between each turnover as they will expand in size while cooking.Bake the cheese and bacon turnovers at 375ºF (190ºC) for 15 - 20 minutes or until they are golden brown, and the cheddar cheese is completely melted.Remove the turnovers from the oven and cool them on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before serving. *Or you can burn your mouth - ask me how I know!! Enjoy these freshly baked and highly addictive turnovers as an appetizer or snack. No need for extras, these are SO GOOD all by themselves! PS. These are also very familiar to UK readers that know of Gregg’s bacon and cheese wraps. I’ve heard it is a very familiar smell to some!

🥡 Storing & Reheating Wrap your turnovers in plastic wrap or foil and store them in the refrigerator or freezer. I like to do a double wrap on most of my turnovers with plastic cling film and then store them in an airtight container for best freshness. Since the turnovers contain a meat product, they do require refrigeration. Use heavy-duty aluminum foil and freezer storage bags for freezing your turnovers. Turnovers store well in the freezer for up to 3 months. *It is easiest to freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet, then wrap and store them in a container or freezer bag. The turnovers can also be stored in a freezer container with sheets of parchment paper between layers. Reheating Cheese and Bacon Turnovers You can reheat turnovers very easily! Using your microwave, heat in half-power bursts for 30 seconds until warmed to your satisfaction. In the oven, place the turnovers onto a baking sheet and warm in a preheated oven at 400ºF (205ºC). They won’t take long to warm, so watch your turnovers closely. Or simply place the turnovers in the refrigerator to thaw from frozen. Of course, turnovers are perfectly delicious at room temperature and even cold. So no heating is necessary if you’re ready to dive into the turnovers right out of the fridge! 🥖 Other Savory Recipes
