Iberia’s U.S. route network is getting a big boost on June 1.The Spanish flag carrier will begin service from Madrid (MAD) to Washington Dulles (IAD) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) that day, along with restarting service from Madrid to San Francisco (SFO).Service to all three destinations will operate with the Airbus A330.Want more airline-specific news? The return flight, IB6132, departs Washington at 4:45 p.m. and arrives in Madrid at 6:30 a.m. the next day.Iberia last served Dulles in 2009. The route had been seasonal for hub carrier United Airlines until the COVID-19 pandemic, but that’s also set to resume this summer, according to Cirium. Iberia’s new service is the latest Oneworld partner to add feed to American’s hub, as Finnair will launch service to Helsinki (HEL) on March 27. This week, Qantas resumed its service to Sydney (SYD) after a long COVID-19 suspension.Finally, Iberia’s San Francisco route resumes after seasonal service in the summers of 2018 and 2019. Flight IB6193 departs Madrid on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:20 p.m. and arrives in San Francisco at 4:15 p.m., all times local. The return flight, IB6174, departs San Francisco at 5:50 p.m. and arrives the next day at 2:10 p.m. Service on this route concludes on Sept. 30.These routes were all announced in November, with an April start date, so the June 1 start date represents a slight delay.Iberia’s new routes have already been loaded on its website, and are bookable in business class for as little as 42,500 Avios each way on some days.
