- Carrots - 4 medium carrots, or as many as you like, it doesn’t change the cooking time by much! Water - Just a splash, 2 - 3 tablespoons will do it.Butter - 1 tablespoon of butter, or more if needed. How to Steam Carrots in the Microwave
Prep your carrots and get them into a dish, then heat and serve, it doesn’t get any simpler! Other than a microwave-safe dish, you don’t need much (no special microwave gadgets required)!
4 carrots make about 2 servings, but you can always make more!
- Prep. Wash or peel 4 (or more) carrots. Chop them into as close to even-in-size rounds as you can get. About ½ an inch in thickness.Add water. Place your carrot rounds into a microwave-safe dish and add a splash of water. Cover the dish with a lid or plate.Steam. Cook the carrots on high for 3 minutes, then test the firmness. Continue cooking in one-minute increments until the carrots reach your desired level of tenderness (*see note). Toss with butter. Once the carrots are nice and tender, remove the dish and leave it covered for about one minute. Drain off the excess water, then add 1 tablespoon of butter and toss to coat the carrots. Season to taste and serve with your favorite main dishes!
These carrots make a fabulous side dish for any meal! I personally love serving them with bag roasted chicken or my crockpot Yankee pot roast. Enjoy!
